Athilea is a 36 year young Mexica Mom of three and wife to her supportive partner Raistlen. She was born and raised in California and moved to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory with her husband in 2007. She became affiliated with Ta’an Kwach’an Council when she married her husband in 2008. In 2016 her husband and growing family moved to the Okanagan. She would like to recognize that she resides on the unceded territory of the Syilx/Okanagan People. She completed her training the “nKshAytkn (Our Relations) Indigenous Doula Training” with Nicole Williams and Willow George this year, 2021; to these women she is eternally grateful for their insight, wisdom, and knowledge. Athilea believes in empowering birthing parents, and reclaiming the spirituality and cultural traditions surrounding birth, as well as networking with other Birth Keepers in the Okanagan to build a healthy birth care community dedicated to building healthy communities. She is also a Reiki Master and Professional Artist in her down time.
